Privacy Policy

Short version: Moku does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. All your information stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We have no servers and no access to your data.

This Privacy Policy explains how Moku ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Jolted, handles your information when you use the Moku iOS application ("App").

1. Who We Are

The App is developed and published by:

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be explicit: Moku does not operate a server. We do not collect, receive, store, or process any of your personal data on our end. We do not have analytics, crash reporting services, advertising trackers, or user accounts.

Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifier
  • Your location
  • Your device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, etc.)
  • Browsing or behavioral data
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Any data that is transmitted off your device to us

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

  • Focus sessions — start time, end time, duration, detection mode (auto or manual), and whether the session counted toward your streak.
  • User statistics — current streak, longest streak, lifetime focus time, total sessions, and personal best session duration.
  • User preferences — daily goal, reminder settings, selected app icon, purchase state, and feature flags.

This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud Sync (see Section 4). It is not accessible to us at any time.

4. iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud Sync in the App's settings, your focus sessions, statistics, and preferences are synchronized across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is:

  • Tied exclusively to your personal Apple ID and iCloud account
  • End-to-end protected by Apple's infrastructure
  • Accessible only by you

We do not have access to your CloudKit data. Use of iCloud is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud Terms and Conditions. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the App's Settings screen.

5. Motion Sensor Data

The App uses your device's accelerometer and gyroscope via Apple's CoreMotion framework to detect when your phone is placed face down. This motion data is processed entirely on-device, in real time, is never stored beyond the duration of active detection, and is never transmitted anywhere.

6. Notifications

The App uses local notifications only. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device by iOS. We do not use push notification infrastructure and do not receive any confirmation when a notification is delivered or opened. You can manage notification permissions at any time in Settings → Notifications → Moku on your iPhone.

7. In-App Purchases

Moku Pro is purchased through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple. We do not collect, store, or process any payment information. Apple's handling of your payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

8. Widgets and Apple Watch

The App includes a Home Screen widget and an Apple Watch app. These features display data that is already stored locally on your device. No additional data collection occurs through these surfaces.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect any personal data from any user, no special measures are necessary.

10. Your Rights

Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, most data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are already satisfied by design: your data exists only on your device and in your iCloud account, both of which you fully control.

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), you are protected by the GDPR. Given that Moku does not process your personal data, GDPR obligations are minimal; however, if you have concerns, you can contact us at jolted.eu@gmail.com or reach your local data protection authority.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

All focus session data is stored on your device under your control. You can delete individual sessions within the App, or you can delete the App entirely to remove all locally stored data. If iCloud Sync is enabled, you can manage or delete your iCloud data through Apple's iCloud settings.

12. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or social media trackers. The only third-party dependencies are Apple's own frameworks (SwiftData, CloudKit, CoreMotion, StoreKit, WidgetKit, WatchConnectivity), which are governed by Apple's own privacy policies.

13. Security

All data is stored using Apple's native frameworks, which benefit from iOS's built-in security model including device encryption, sandboxing, and secure enclave protection. iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
